It’s National Volunteer Week, and this year’s theme is Ignite Volunteerism! From April 19 to 25, we're celebrating the power of volunteers to spark connection, belonging, and positive change in their communities. 💪
From organizing year-round programs and events to coaching athletes on the playing fields, thank you to our outstanding volunteers who pour their hearts into everything they do. You inspire us, and you truly make a difference. 💙
In celebration of the week, we invite all current volunteers to nominate a fellow volunteer who has made a positive impact. This is your opportunity to showcase the amazing volunteers in your community and help us celebrate them. If your nominee is selected as a winner, you will also receive a prize! We will randomly select one winner from each SOBC Region. 🤩

"What makes me smile on the field is being with my team, playing soccer, and just having a great time." -Amy Nelson, SOBC Coquitlam athlete
That joy is what it’s all about! ❤️
Right now, hundreds of Special Olympics BC athletes across the province are giving it their all at Regional Qualifiers, chasing personal bests, building confidence, and striving for the chance to compete at provincial, national, and even international levels.
With every Split the Pot Lottery ticket, you’re helping make these moments possible by creating year-round sport opportunities while fostering inclusion and respect for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across B.C.
Recently, Special Olympics BC’s Heather Maciver and athlete Amy Nelson joined Your Morning Vancouver to share more about the impact of the Split the Pot Lottery and what it means to athletes and communities.
