Owning a farm is an incredible lifestyle, but it also comes with challenges that many people never see.

When the sun goes down, wildlife wakes up. Coyotes, foxes, raccoons, skunks, hawks, bears, and other predators don’t see your farm the way you do—they see opportunity. Your chickens, livestock, feed, and even gardens become targets.

The reality of farming is late-night checks, secure fencing, livestock guardian animals, locked coops, and many sleepless nights spent trying to protect the animals you’ve committed to caring for.

Nature is beautiful, and wildlife has its place, but so do the animals that depend on us. Sometimes farmers have to make difficult decisions to protect their livestock, and those decisions aren’t made lightly.

Life on a farm can feel like a midnight all-you-can-eat buffet for wildlife, and protecting what you’ve worked so hard for is simply part of the job.
