Unique Soapstone Experiences

🎬 This weekend, something exciting is happening.

We're bringing together an amazing group of volunteers to help film the next chapter of Unique Soapstone Experiences.

This isn't just about capturing people carving stone.

It's about capturing what happens when people put their phones down, stop worrying about being "creative," and simply start creating.

You'll see laughter.
You'll see concentration.
You'll see complete beginners discover they can do something they never thought possible.

Every sculpture tells a story—but it's the people behind them that matter most.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to be part of this project. Your willingness to show up helps us share this experience with future schools, families, retreat groups, corporate teams, and visitors from around the world.

🎥 CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS – UNIQUE SOAPSTONE EXPERIENCES VIDEO SHOOT 🎥

We're looking for approximately 20 participants to help us create a promotional video showcasing the Unique Soapstone Experiences workshop!

📅 Tentative Date: Sunday, July 19 (final confirmation coming soon)
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Weedon Community Hall, Cochrane

This is not a traditional workshop.

While you'll still create and take home your own soapstone sculpture, the primary purpose of the day is to film and photograph the experience. That means there will likely be frequent pauses, resets, and repeated scenes while we capture different angles and moments. The carving experience will not be continuous.

Please only sign up if you are comfortable being photographed and appearing in promotional videos. We'll be capturing footage throughout the event for use in our website, social media, advertising, and other marketing materials. If you do not want to be on camera, this event is not the right fit.

Leave Your CAN'T at the Door.

I'm looking for volunteers to participate in a professionally filmed Unique Soapstone Experiences workshop on June 24.

As USE continues to grow, we're creating new promotional videos and are looking for participants willing to take part in an authentic soapstone carving experience while being filmed.

No experience is necessary. Participants will enjoy a guided carving session, create their own sculpture, and may have the opportunity to share their experience on camera.

The workshop will take place on June 24, likely in the morning, with final details to be confirmed.

Sip & Sculpt #3 — what an incredible group.
So much fun watching everyone get out of their heads and into their hands, exploring creativity and creating something uniquely their own. The energy in the room was exactly what these experiences are all about — relaxed, open, and fully present.
If you missed this one, the next workshop is coming up in May — and spots will be limited.

Sip and Sculpt Friday!

Due to popular demand, Michael Emery and Route 22 will be hosting another hands-on soapstone carving workshop in May! Enjoy some refreshments from our cash bar while you learn the fundamentals of shaping stone and creating a finished sculptural piece!

Participants will learn basic carving techniques, safe material handling, and simple hand-sanding methods using water to reduce dust. With the ability to choose from a small set of pre-selected shapes and designs, participants will be able to create a finished sculptural piece. The emphasis is on process, experimentation, and creative confidence rather than artistic perfection.

No prior experience is required, and each participant will leave with a completed stone carving they created themselves.

Date: May 15th, 2026

Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery, Cochrane AB

Price: $50 (+ GST | Fees)
