If you are against the Alberta government ramming through legislation yesterday and destroying workers rights to strike with the "Back to school act". You can email the lieutenant Governor. They may be able to stop or delay the assent of the bill. Below is a template you can use. The email is [email protected]

Honour, the Honourable Lieutenant Governor,

I am an Alberta [parent/teacher/student/employer] in [city]. I respectfully ask that you reserve Royal Assent on Bill 2 (Back to School Act) — which sends the bill to the Governor General in Council — or briefly delay assent to allow the Government of Alberta to seek an expedited Court of Appeal reference on its constitutionality.

Bill 2 pre-emptively invokes s.33 of the Charter to impose a four-year contract, suspend local bargaining, and levy substantial fines for job action. In light of Supreme Court decisions affirming freedom of association and a meaningful right to strike (e.g., Health Services (2007), Mounted Police Association (2015), Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (2015)), these measures raise serious constitutional concerns that warrant higher-order consideration before assent.

I recognize the extraordinary nature of this request and the non-partisan role of your office. My concern is safeguarding constitutional governance and the long-term integrity of Alberta’s institutions and public education.

Respectfully,

[Full name]

Isla Gwin | Terry Fox School Run 09/18/2025

Hello Everyone,

My daughter Isla (Grade 2) is fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation in support of Cancer Research. She has set herself a big goal to be the top fundraiser in her school with a target of $500.

If you’re interested in helping, even a donation of $1 or $2 makes a difference. Every contribution counts, and together we can help Isla reach her goal.

Like so many families, ours has been deeply touched by cancer. In the past year, one of our loved ones has beaten uterine cancer, while another continues the hard fight with lung cancer. This cause is incredibly meaningful to us, and we’re grateful for any support you can give.

Thank you for helping Isla make a difference in honor of Terry Fox and for everyone touched by cancer. 💙 Click the link to donate.
