🌳 Think That Tree Is Safe? It Might Be Telling You Otherwise…

Not all hazardous trees are obvious. Some of the biggest risks are the ones homeowners overlook - until a storm hits.

Here are a few warning signs to watch for on your property:

⚠️ Large dead branches or sections with no leaves
⚠️ Cracks or splits in the trunk
⚠️ A tree that’s suddenly leaning
⚠️ Mushrooms or fungus growing at the base
⚠️ Hollow or visibly decaying wood
⚠️ Roots lifting or soil shifting around the tree

These issues can signal serious structural weakness - and in high winds or storms, that can quickly turn into costly damage or safety hazards.

If you’re not 100% sure your tree is safe, it’s worth getting a professional opinion.

✅ Ottawa Valley Tree Experts offers FREE dangerous tree assessments so you can make the right call with confidence.

⚠️Ice Storm Warning – Ottawa Area ⚠️

A potential ice storm is expected Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.

Common hazards we want to remind everyone of:
• Falling Branches – Ice buildup adds heavy weight and can cause limbs to snap without warning.
• Cracked or Split Trees – Ice stress can cause trunks or large limbs to split.
• Hanging Limbs – Broken branches may get stuck in the canopy and fall later.
• Leaning Trees – Ice weight can shift trees and weaken root systems.
• Whole Tree Failure – Heavily iced trees may uproot or collapse.
• Power Line Damage – Tree limbs can fall onto lines, causing outages and safety risks. Please stay clear!

We will be monitoring the storm and assisting homeowners with dangerous trees and storm damage cleanup.
