Recently had a fraud attempt to book me for an inspection. This is a reminder to small businesses and individuals alike that with the holidays around the corner, be aware of scams. Here are some red flags:
- They refuse to speak over the phone
- Fraudsters insist on a certified cheque (we have e-transfer in Canada and they are free for all institutes under $1000)
- They insist money must be deposited using a mobile app
- They want to pay extra because it’s a certified cheque or a foreign currency

Basically, listen to your instincts. Don’t give out personal information. Be safe!
