Moving forward in St. Thomas! This weekend Pastor Jeremy Best and Faith St. Thomas hosted a FEB Central Church Vitality Consultation. With strong biblical preaching, thriving youth and children’s ministry, gifted staff and elders, and a strong outward focus, the Lord has given Faith significant growth and many baptisms in the past few years. The Consultation Team shared a number of encouragements and provided recommendations to help Faith address the challenges that growth brings. Please join us in thanking the Lord for what he is doing at Faith, and pray for Pastor Jeremy, the staff, elders and congregation.

The consultation team was led by Steve Adams, along with Rick Buck and Tim Strickland. If you are interested in having a consultation at your church, we are now booking for the fall and would be happy to hear from you.

Today Dr. Michael Haykin spoke at our FEB Toronto Association about lessons from Baptist Associations in history, with a focus on British Baptists in the 17th and 18th centuries and Canadian Baptists in the 19th century in the Ottawa Valley. It was fascinating to learn how our Baptist forefathers benefited from their associations through supporting one another in godly friendships, encouraging sound doctrine in their churches, and working together to support missionary outreach and theological education. It was instructive to hear how historic Baptist Associations handled controversy. Dr. Haykin stressed the importance of speaking personally with others when there is disagreement and treating one another with respect. He also shared about the Great Revival of 1834-35 in the Ottawa Valley, and that Canada’s second Prime Minister, Alexander Mackenzie, was an evangelical Baptist!

The event was hosted by Pastor Immanuel Archer at Long Branch Baptist in South Etobicoke. The pastors enjoyed learning, fellowship, and some very tasty shawarma! Thank you to Dr. Michael Haykin, to Pastor Immanuel and Long Branch, and to Dr. David Robinson and our Toronto Association for a spiritually uplifting time together.
