Graceful Refinement
One of the most common questions I’m hearing lately is whether GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy cause hair loss.
The medication itself isn’t directly causing hair loss. Rapid weight loss and metabolic changes can trigger a type of temporary shedding called Telogen Effluvium.
Because hair shedding is delayed, it often appears a few months after the body experiences a stressor.
The good news is that this type of shedding is often temporary, and supporting your body with proper nutrition, protein, scalp health, and overall wellness can help encourage healthy regrowth.
If you’ve noticed increased shedding since starting a GLP-1, you’re not alone. Let’s talk.

Biotin is one of the most commonly recommended supplements for hair growth, but for most people experiencing hair loss, it may not be addressing the actual cause.
Hair loss is often influenced by factors such as hormones, genetics, iron deficiency, stress, illness, medications, and scalp health. This is why proper assessment is so important before adding supplements to your routine.
Another important consideration is that high doses of biotin can interfere with certain blood tests, including thyroid and hormone testing.
Healthy hair starts with understanding what’s driving the hair loss in the first place.
If you’re struggling with hair thinning or shedding and aren’t sure where to start, I’d love to help you uncover the root cause and create a plan tailored to you.

One of the most overlooked causes of hair loss in women may have nothing to do with the hair itself.
It may be insulin resistance.
Insulin helps move sugar from your bloodstream into your cells for energy. But when blood sugar spikes frequently over time, your body can become less responsive to insulin and starts producing more of it. This is known as insulin resistance.
Research is showing that elevated insulin levels may contribute to increased androgen production, which can increase DHT—a hormone associated with follicle miniaturization and hair thinning.
Over time, this can lead to:
• increased shedding
• reduced hair density
• finer, weaker strands
• gradual thinning
This is one reason why women with insulin resistance and PCOS often experience hair loss.
The good news? Supporting blood sugar balance through nutrition, movement, reducing inflammation, and addressing underlying health concerns may help support healthier hair growth over time.
Hair loss is often a symptom, not the root cause.
If you’re noticing increased shedding or thinning, it may be worth looking beneath the surface to understand what’s really driving it.

This transformation represents two years of consistency, patience, and progress.
When this client first came to me, she was experiencing severe Telogen Effluvium (TE), a form of excessive hair shedding that was impacting her hair density and length.
We started by focusing on scalp health and reducing the shedding using a customized CRLAB treatment plan. From there, we worked on creating the right environment for healthy regrowth.
Over time, the shedding improved, density increased, and her hair length returned.
Hair growth is a journey. It takes time, consistency, and the right support.
If you’re noticing increased shedding, thinning, or changes in your hair, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
