Verse Of The Day:
"But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." (Galatians 6:14)

Christian, you have no grounds for boasting in outward appearances or your adherence to religious practices. You are also free from striving in vain to make a "good show" of yourself before others. Boast in Christ alone, and what He has done, and that you are found in Him.

Paul was addressing false teachers who were trying to make the Galatians conform to the old Jewish law, particularly circumcision. He told them:

"...in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love." (Galatians 5:6)

Moisés Silva writes: "The clearest sign of unbelief is to be found in the tendency to boast in ourselves, when the only legitimate grounds for boasting is God...Here, Paul is more specific. He will boast only in the cross, the instrument through which Paul and the world have been severed from each other. As suggested by Col. 2:20, the world refers to external ordinances...but of course includes sin...and the old self...Those who by faith are united with Christ partake of his death on the cross and are thus removed from the power of sin." (Page 1221 New Bible Commentary)

Let us boast in what Christ has done, and give thanks that we are found in Him.
