BHPE Mavericks

Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual BHPE Outdoor Open Tournament. The event takes place August 8–9, 2026 in Calgary. This youth outdoor ball hockey tournament includes U11–U18 divisions and welcomes all skill levels.

This is a full team entry only tournament. It is built for teams that want a fun, community-focused weekend of outdoor ball hockey.

Following a great experience last year and strong interest, we have expanded the tournament to a two-day format. This allows more teams and more fun.

The event takes place at the Outdoor Rink at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre on Tsuut’ina Nation in Calgary, Alberta.

There is nothing like outdoor ball hockey in the summer. Players enjoy warm weather, fresh air, and a fast-paced game outdoors. The focus is fun, energy, and community.

Join us for one of Calgary’s most exciting youth outdoor ball hockey tournaments. It brings players together for a fun and memorable summer weekend.

The goal of BHPE Mavericks has always been to help grow and develop ball hockey players, building skills, confidence, and creating opportunities for athletes to compete at the next level.

This season, we’re proud to see that growth and success reflected with 55 Mavericks athletes across 3 age divisions earning spots on competitive teams heading to Provincials in June.

Different jerseys this weekend, but always Mavericks at the core. We’re proud of every athlete representing Calgary Ball Hockey at the .minor Open Invitational in Edmonton.

On Sunday, we had the honour of presenting the Nikolas Stang Heart Award at our first annual Mavericks Banquet.

At BHPE Mavericks, the standard has never been about stats alone. It’s about how you prepare, how you compete, and how you show up for the people beside you.

We proudly recognize our U15 recipient of the Nikolas Stang Heart Award, number 22 Jakson Luce.

Named after Nikolas Stang, this award represents the highest individual honor within BHPE Mavericks. It reflects consistency, accountability, resilience, and a team first mindset.

Jakson embodies everything this award stands for. He shows up ready, competes with purpose, and stays committed no matter the challenge. When the game gets tough, he leans in, focused, dependable, and trusted by his teammates. His effort, attitude, and character set the tone for those around him.

To earn this award is to represent what it truly means to be a Maverick, and number 22 has done exactly that.
