On International Women's Day, my heart goes out to women in Palestine, Congo, & Sudan. This isn't a day of celebration; it's a reminder of the ongoing global fight for women's rights. Every woman deserves equal opportunities & rights. Let's break the chains of colonialism & imperialism, to ensure basic rights & the thriving of all women. We must heal, unlearn biases, & dismantle systemic oppression.

To enact change, we must be honest with ourselves & each other. White women wield significant power in global systems & it's crucial to leverage this to advocate for racial justice & support BIPOC women. Elevating their voices is essential; empowering others only strengthens our collective worth. Healing & solidarity are vital for advancing women's rights worldwide.

We must demand a world where every woman has autonomy & her body is not a weapon of war. Where shelter, food & access to vital healthcare, including period supplies, prenatal, birthing, & postnatal care.

Let’s go beyond. Where a woman's choice to wear a hijab, have her natural curls, or don her cultural attire is met with acceptance & celebration, not judgment or prejudice.

This journey to equality is not one we embark on alone. It's a collective endeavor—a symphony of voices rising in unison, echoing the call for justice, equity, & compassion as we champion women's rights.

Men worldwide, esp. white men, I implore you: Let your actions mirror the respect & care you'd extend to your daughters or mothers. Treat partners as equals, deserving dignity & autonomy. Create spaces where women feel not just physically safe, but emotionally supported. In nurturing the women in your life, you also nurture your own growth & understanding. Join us in standing tall against patriarchal norms that stifle our collective potential. Your solidarity isn't just appreciated; it's essential for global liberation.

Let's forge a world where every woman's brilliance shines, her value is honored, and her dreams come true. The moment for change has arrived. Enough is enough. Let the hardships we witness be the catalyst to a better world. Let go of apathy & bravely effect change. None of us truly thrive until all are liberated.

How do you navigate friendships with fellow women?
Do you find it easier to connect with men?
It’s a question worth exploring in a society where women are subtly pitted against each other from a young age, creating rifts and barriers to collective power.

From childhood to adulthood, women are encouraged to compete, compare, and judge each other, weakening our solidarity and hindering our ability to harness collective strength. Yet, one of the most essential things women need is the friendship and support of other women—a bond that offers healing, understanding, and rejuvenation.

However, modern life presents challenges. We no longer live in close-knit tribes where women interact daily in familial settings. Instead, societal norms and media portrayals perpetuate narratives of competition, leaving many women isolated and unsure of how to navigate conflicts or express their emotions authentically.

Moreover, stereotypes like the notion of women engaging in “cat fights” further divide and diminish us. This narrative, often perpetuated by men, undermines female solidarity and can push women to seek friendships with men or feel more comfortable in male-dominated spaces, perpetuating cycles of trauma and isolation.

So, how do we heal this wound within ourselves and our communities?
✦Acknowledging the systemic forces at play
✦Reclaim the narrative of female friendship and solidarity.
✦Learn to communicate openly and honestly, to navigate conflicts with compassion and empathy, and
✦Celebrate each other’s successes rather than viewing them as threats.

By fostering genuine connections and supporting each other’s growth, we can break free from patterns of competition and division. Together, we can rewrite the narrative and create a world where women uplift and empower each other, rather than tearing each other down.

Let’s start by building bridges, not barriers, and by embracing the strength and resilience that comes from sisterhood. Together, we can heal, grow, and create positive change in our communities and beyond.
