Your Bi-Weekly Economic Update!

The last couple of weeks have been relatively quiet on the rate front, but there's still plenty happening behind the scenes.

The 5-year Government of Canada bond yield has moved within a relatively narrow range over the past two weeks. Since fixed mortgage rates are closely tied to bond yields, we've seen lenders make only minor pricing adjustments rather than any significant rate changes.

All eyes are on the July 15 Bank of Canada announcement. Current expectations suggest the Bank will leave its policy rate unchanged, choosing to gather more economic data before making its next move. Although the rate itself may not change, the Bank's commentary could offer valuable insight into how inflation and economic conditions may shape future decisions.
