An apology to Canada

Today I have a lot more empathy for Americans who feel the need to apologize for Donald Trump.

Canada, I apologize for Danielle Smith.

I guess it doesn’t help much that I was one of the 62% of eligible Albertans who voted in the last election, and one of the 48% of those who didn’t support Danielle and the UCP.

The fact is, like the Americans, we let it happen.

Part of me is embarrassed, but a bigger part is mad as hell.

So Canada, I promise you this. I will vote NO on every single referendum question, even though there are small parts that I can agree with, e.g discussing potential constitutional reforms with other provinces.I will do my best to make this referendum about Danielle Smith and her anti Canadian friends. I will do every thing that I can to encourage my friends, family, colleagues, and anyone else to do the same . I believe that this October referendum is an opportunity to repudiate Danielle Smith and her politics.
