Sharpening our skills to bring people home 🔍
This winter, CALSARA members and the Calgary Police Service have been training together on tracking and sign cutting—a specialized skillset we use to locate missing persons in challenging situations.
Our teams learned to:
- Spot items that appear out of place in the environment
- Identify unique boot prints
- Measure stride, straddle, and gait patterns
- Understand how people move uphill, downhill, around obstacles, and through varied terrain
- Communicate and coordinate effectively when following tracks through difficult ground

Every training session brings us one step closer to finding those who need us most.

Our team recently completed comprehensive Landing Zone Training with STARS Ambulance 🚁
What We Learned:
- How to access STARS services
- Landing zone preparation and helicopter safety
- Patient preparation for air medical transport

Why It Matters:
STARS is committed to one mission: critical care, anywhere. Founded on the belief that no one should go without life-saving emergency care, STARS partners with community organizations like ours to ensure the most effective patient care possible.

Through training like this, we're strengthening our community's emergency response network and making sure that when someone needs help, distance is never a barrier. 💙
