Found a tick on yourself, a pet, or out in the yard?Don't just throw it away—Submit-a-Tick program wants to see it!

The Submit-a-Tick program monitors the types and distribution of ticks in Canada and assesses the risk of acquiring the tick-borne Lyme disease in your area! The identification results typically back within 2 business days giving you piece of mind fast!

Below is a step by step instructions on how to submit:

Step 1: Take a Photo
Submit a clear picture of the tick through the free eTick mobile app or online at eTick.ca.

Step 2: Save the Tick
Keep the tick in a clean, empty plastic container with a tight lid for at least 10 days (just in case they need more photos).

Note: Do NOT poke air holes in the container! You can store it safely in the fridge or freezer.

Step 3: What Happens Next?
If the photo shows it's a species that can transmit Lyme disease (or if the photo is blurry), you’ll be asked to mail the physical tick to the Alberta Public Health Laboratory for further testing. If it's a harmless species, you can throw it out!
