When Michael first reached out to me, it wasn’t just about planning a photoshoot or documenting another wedding story. It was about love — intentional, patient, and deeply rooted in culture.
Years after legally marrying his beautiful wife, Opeyemi, in the United Kingdom, Michael still felt there was something special left undone. To him, his Yoruba queen deserved the full traditional experience — the joy, the honor, the culture, and every beautiful step that comes with a true Yoruba “Owambe” celebration in Lagos, Nigeria. ❤️✨
I watched a man completely determined to love his wife loudly and intentionally. Michael wanted it all — the “igbeyawo” (carrying of the bride), the heartfelt “idobale” (prostrating before the in-laws), the symbolic “owo ori” (bride price), and the emotional “mo bebe fe” moment where he formally asked her family for her hand in marriage. Every tradition mattered to him, and he left no stone unturned to give Opeyemi this unforgettable experience.
Just weeks before their trip to Nigeria for the wedding celebration — which happened a fortnight ago — we came together to create something truly beautiful. And honestly, every moment reflected love, joy, culture, and intention.
