We were honoured to come together with the Calgary Single Moms Community and several other community organizations to celebrate a beautiful Mother’s Day event in support of mothers in our community. 💐

ACWGC was proud to be part of this meaningful collaboration, with our Executive Director, Rubina Hamdar, representing our organization at the celebration.

The event was filled with joy, connection, appreciation, and unity as communities came together to recognize the strength, love, and resilience of mothers. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this celebration memorable and successful.

Some of our volunteers had the opportunity to attend a volunteer appreciation gathering hosted by the U-Turn Project.

It was inspiring to see so many dedicated individuals being recognized for their hard work and commitment, and receiving certificates in appreciation of their service.

We are proud of our volunteers for their continued efforts in supporting and strengthening our community.

Voices from Rural Afghan Women

Research by Rubina Hamdard,Muqadasa Ahmadzai, and Storey Tapish reveals the harsh realities faced by rural Afghan women: limited access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, and safety. Their work highlights the daily struggles, isolation, and resilience of women across multiple provinces in Afghanistan.

This important research, shared by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), is a powerful call for global attention and urgent support.

In honor of International Women’s Day (March 😎, we stand in solidarity with Afghan women and their continued strength.

Stories of Strength ✨
Our Afghan women courageously shared their journeys, dreams, and resilience at the Thunder of Clouds premiere. Witnessing their voices celebrated and their stories honored was deeply inspiring — a powerful reminder of the strength and spirit of Afghan women everywhere.

We had a very productive and inspiring meeting with Muhammad Yaseen, Alberta’s Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism.

During our discussion, we highlighted the challenges and resilience of Afghan women, and emphasized the importance of continued support and collaboration.

We are truly encouraged by his commitment to stand with us, support our initiatives, and work together to create more opportunities for Afghan women in our community.
It was an honor to have this meaningful conversation and to capture some memorable moments together.
