Calgary Ski Club’s Lake Louise Loppet

Two new changes to Calgary Ski Club’s Lake Louise Loppet are coming to Loppet 25 this year that we hope you will enjoy.

We heard from some that our 20 km loop wasn’t long enough, and we also had safety concerns with the steep outbound downhill and tight turn on Telemark trail, just past our Cross-Over marshal station.

This year we have a new route that will take 25 km racers uphill to the top of track-setting on Lake Moraine Road and then enjoy a long downhill run before turning left to Fairview trail. Full course layout is on our website. We hope this change is a positive one for the faster racers.

The other change is the introduction of Teams of 2. We saw this category in bike races last summer and brought it to Loppet 25. Team up with your favourite skier and join one of the following Open events, Women’s, Mixed, Men’s, or Veteran’s 100+. The last one adds both racer’s ages together for those in our mature race community.

Within weeks of opening registration we had our first father and son team, and are looking for many more to join.
