Personal or group interview? It depends. If you’re hiring at volume, group interviews are easier. You can filter fast, see who shows up, and who engages.
But if you have a clear standard for your team, you start to notice something — the people who perform best on the job aren’t always the ones who stand out in a group.
Group interviews show presence. Personal interviews give you clarity. They solve different problems.

Fold your cloth = "8 clean sides”!
Instead of bunching a cloth up in your hand...
Fold it properly into quarters → you get 8 usable surfaces.
Why it matters: You’re not just pushing dirt around after the first wipe.

Training VS Shadowing 🤔
“Training” in most cleaning companies = “Follow someone around for a day.” And then we expect consistency after that.
The problem is: People don’t learn systems by watching—they learn by doing things the same way, repeatedly, with feedback.
If your results vary, look at how you're training. Not who you're training.

Spot the mistake 👀
This floor wasn’t mopped properly… can you tell why?
Here's the answer:
When mopping hardwood floors, it’s really important to follow the direction of the wood grain. Going against it can leave visible streaks and uneven marks.
It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the final result. ✨
💬 Did you know this, or is this a new tip for you?

The cleaning industry is bigger than most people might think. 🧼
Residential, commercial, carpets, windows — there’s a lot you could do, but that doesn’t mean you should do everything.
One thing we’ve learned: it’s really important to know your boundaries early. What you’re comfortable with, what you’re trained for, and what you’re not willing to take on.
Not every job is the same, and some situations (especially anything involving animal or human waste) come with real risks if you’re not prepared. ⚠️
Figuring this out helps with everything — your equipment, your team, your schedule, and honestly, your peace of mind.
If you’re trying to start or grow a cleaning business and feeling unsure about that side of things, we do offer consultations. Just reach out!

We asked one of our recent students:
“What was the most valuable thing you learned?”
Their answer?
👉 Cleaning with vinegar.
It might sound simple, but vinegar is one of the most underrated and powerful tools in cleaning. Many people don’t realize just how many areas it can be used in!
At CleanIQ, we teach practical, real-world techniques that work.

A lot of cleaning business owners assume that if they do great work, the clients will come. But the reality is—great service alone doesn’t create steady growth. Visibility does.
If people aren’t seeing you, hearing about you, or being reminded that you exist, they’re not thinking of you when they need a cleaner. And that’s not a quality issue—it’s a marketing gap.
The shift happens when you stop waiting for leads and start creating a consistent presence. When your business shows up regularly, builds familiarity, and makes it easy for people to reach out, everything starts to change.
Because growth doesn’t come from being the best-kept secret.
It comes from being the one people remember when it’s time to book.

It can feel unsettling when a great team member decides to move on. Especially when they’ve been someone you’ve relied on. But moments like this are also an opportunity to pause and reflect on your team as a whole.
Every team naturally has a range of experience and performance—and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to have one standout person carrying everything. It’s to build a team where everyone is capable, supported, and confident in their role.
That comes from consistent guidance, clear expectations, and ongoing training—not just once, but over time.
When each person is given the tools and support they need, your business becomes more balanced, resilient, and less dependent on any one individual.
People will come and go—that’s part of growth. But a well-supported team will always be able to grow with you 💛

Mistakes happen in this business.
A missed detail, a miscommunication, something that didn’t get done the way it should have—it's part of the work sometimes.
What really matters is how you handle it.
Owning it right away, taking responsibility, and fixing it without excuses shows a level of professionalism clients remember.
People don’t expect perfection—they expect honesty and follow-through.
That’s what builds trust and keeps clients coming back, even after something goes wrong.
Handle the situation well, and you can actually walk away with a stronger relationship than before.
And if you’re building that kind of standard in your business, reach out! 😉
