Domestic abuse is not just black eyes and broken bones.

Coercive control is a pattern of behaviours designed to limit a person's independence, freedom, and sense of self. Because these behaviours often develop gradually, they can be difficult to recognize.

Understanding coercive control helps us better recognize the many ways abuse can show up in relationships and reminds us that abuse is about power and control, not just physical violence.

What a week. 🀠❀️

Community events, new connections, and a little history-making along the way.

This Stampede, Sagesse was proud to be out in the community, with our board members and volunteers connecting with partners, supporters, and fellow Calgarians throughout the celebration.

It was wonderful to see our Board Chair, Tessa, along with board members Cindy, Denita and Dee, representing Sagesse and helping strengthen community connections during Stampede.

A highlight was joining the incredible energy at Drag Me to Cowboys, which set a Guinness World Record for the largest drag show audience! 🌈✨

A huge thank you to our board members, volunteers, partners, and everyone who took a moment to connect with us. Together, we're building a community where healthy relationships can thrive.

Until next year, Stampede! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ

Stampede is all about community, connection, and making memories. 🀠

As you celebrate, take a moment to think about how we can all help create experiences where everyone feels respected, included, and safe.

Because the best Stampede memories happen when we look out for one another. ❀️

πŸŽ‰ Save the Date!

On November 5, 2026, we'll be celebrating Sagesse's 40th Anniversary.

For four decades, Sagesse has been working alongside individuals, families, and communities to build safe and healthy relationships and help prevent domestic abuse. This milestone is an opportunity to reflect on the impact we've made together and celebrate the people who have been part of the journey.

More details about this special event will be shared in the coming months, but for now, mark your calendars and join us in celebrating 40 years of support, strength, and change.πŸ’œ
