Agecare
Employee Appreciation Week is a chance to pause and recognize the people who make AgeCare communities what they are.
Every day, our team members make a positive impact on the lives of residents, families, and one another. We’re grateful for the care and dedication they bring to each and every interaction.
This year, we’ve continued to strengthen the employee experience through three key areas of focus that reflect our values of trust, respect, quality, and teamwork.
To every member of the AgeCare team, thank you for everything you do.

Planning for later life isn't always an easy conversation, but being informed can make all the difference.
AgeCare CEO Salimah Walji-Shivji recently shared her insights in Family Psychology Magazine with an article that explores Alberta's continuing care system and the importance of planning ahead.
From understanding the different levels of care to considering future health, housing, and financial decisions, the article offers practical information to help Albertans navigate what can feel like a complex journey. Planning early gives individuals and families more time to understand their options and make informed decisions together.
We encourage anyone thinking about future care for themselves or a loved one to take a few moments to read the full article. You can find it on page 26.

At AgeCare Brant (Burlington, ON), a recreation Co-op student generously created a one-of-a-kind Montessori-inspired felt book for residents. Each page reflects activities and experiences shared throughout her placement, from art and music programs to pet visits, café gatherings, and baking activities.
Designed with interactive, removable felt pieces, the book encourages engagement, conversation, and hands-on exploration while celebrating many of the moments that make community life so meaningful.
It's a wonderful example of how small acts of creativity can create lasting connections and enrich the lives of residents. 💙

A little bit of wonder took flight at AgeCare Riverview (Medicine Hat, AB). 🦋
For the third spring in a row, residents and team members had the opportunity to watch caterpillars transform into butterflies, following each stage of their journey over several weeks.
When a bright sunny day arrived, residents gathered in the courtyard to celebrate the long-awaited butterfly release. What made the experience especially memorable was that the butterflies weren't in a hurry to leave. They gently landed on residents' and team members' hands and lingered for a while before eventually taking flight.
A heartfelt thank you to Joyce and Dunmore for sponsoring this program and helping bring it to seniors' communities across Medicine Hat. Experiences like these create opportunities for meaningful moments that stay with us long after the butterflies have flown away.

Seniors Week was one to remember at AgeCare Bow Crest (Calgary, AB). 🎩
To celebrate Seniors Week, residents embraced a fun hat-themed activity, decorating hats with flowers, bows, and personal touches before wearing them to a special community celebration. The joy of creating was matched only by the excitement of showing off their designs alongside friends and neighbours.
The festivities continued with a performance from a local band, bringing plenty of opportunities to celebrate together.
Overall, Seniors Week was a wonderful reminder of the connections and experiences that make our community so special.
