🇬🇾 Making a Difference Through Vision Care in Guyana

In April 2026, our volunteer Optometrists, Opticians, Nurse, and numerous volunteers with a wide range of skills travelled through communities including Kato, Paramakatoi, Mahdia, and Georgetown, helping provide eye care clinics while building meaningful connections with local communities and leaders along the way. During our week of outreach, we attended to nearly 600 people, with almost 400 pairs of glasses provided either on-site or delivered later to those in need.

Experiences like these are a powerful reminder that vision care is about more than eye exams and glasses. It is about building relationships, fostering trust, and working alongside communities to improve quality of life and access to care.

One of the volunteers shared his experience being able to contribute to a Guyana project as his father had done years before--- Throughout the mission, our team was welcomed with remarkable warmth and generosity. The strong partnerships developed over many years between Canadian Vision Care and communities across Guyana continue to make these outreach programs possible and impactful.

What stood out most was seeing firsthand the dedication, planning, and collaboration required to bring eye care services to remote and underserved regions. Every clinic reflects the commitment of volunteers, local healthcare partners, community leaders, donors, and supporters who share a common goal of helping people see clearly and live more independently.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this mission and to the communities that welcomed us so warmly.

Together, we continue to expand access to vision care and create lasting impact—one person, one family, and one community at a time.

💙 Thank you for supporting Canadian Vision Care 💙
