Invitation To Dance

It is RECITAL WEEK and we have absolutely no chill about it. 🎭✨

June 1st through 3rd, our dancers take the stage and show the world everything they have been working on. After months of classes, rehearsals, costume fittings, and one very memorable Photo Day, it all comes together this week.

She started dancing at age three. She joined ITD at age six. And now she's one of our teachers. We love everything about this story. Meet Miss Ivy! 🩰💛

Miss Ivy began her journey here as a student, falling in love with acro and jazz before expanding into tap, lyrical, hip hop, and ballet. She was a member of Dance Alive for five years and thoroughly enjoyed every single moment. ITD became her second home long before it became her workplace.

Five years ago she began as a student teacher, and she has since graduated from our STEP program, earned her certification with Spectacle Blue in Aerial Assistant Teacher Training, and is CPR and first aid certified.

But what makes Miss Ivy so wonderful in the classroom isn't any single credential. It's the fact that she genuinely remembers what it felt like to be a young dancer discovering movement for the first time. She is always looking for new and creative ways to keep her students engaged and having fun because she knows firsthand how much this place can mean to a kid.

We are so glad she never left. 💙

We don't know who first said this but we feel it in our bones every single day.

Confidence in a dancer doesn't appear out of nowhere. It's built, slowly and intentionally, by teachers who see potential before the student can see it themselves. Who offers the correction with encouragement. Who remembers what it felt like to be nervous on that side of the room.

At ITD we are so incredibly lucky to have a team of teachers who believe in their students with their whole hearts. You see it in how they teach. You see it in how our dancers carry themselves. And you see it most clearly on the days when a student does something they didn't think they could do, and looks up to find their teacher already smiling.

That relationship is everything. 💛
