As most of you know spring is upon us in Calgary, but just because the roads seem

#1 Don’t Get Rid of Your Snow Tires Yet
Even though we’re hopeful it won’t snow anymore, we could still see snow in April so it’s a good idea to leave your snow tires on for just a little while longer.

#2 Stay Alert for Slippery Roads + Sand
April showers bring May flowers, but it also means the rain has made roads slippery.  Use caution when driving in rainy weather.  Keep an eye out for potholes because chances are, the puddle is hiding one!  Also, be aware of leftover sand, salt, and gravel on the roads; they can cause a noticeable reduction in tire grip, so slow down when making turns.

#3 Keep an Eye Out for Children + Cyclists

The nicer weather means more people will be on the roads, such as children playing or cyclists riding their bike around town.  Drive with caution and always be aware of who’s around you.

#4 Change Your Windshield Wipers

The freezing temperatures during the winter months can reduce the effectiveness of your wiper blades.  It’s a good idea to replace your wipers each spring so that you have clear visibility during the rainy days.

#5 Look Out for Animals

Many animals hibernate during the winter months and will now be on the move in spring.  Slow down in rural areas or where animal traffic is high to prevent animal deaths and damage to your car.
