In our guided hand building session we show you the 3 basic principles behind shaping clay without the aid of a machine, like the pottery wheel. We show you coiling; this is the making of a long snake like shape, and then building with that form. We demonstrate the pinch pot, this is when clay is pinched and pulled into a shape. And, we do slabbing; this is when the clay is rolled out flat. From there you can use a combination of any of those three techniques to build almost any shape you can think of.

2 hour slab sessions are $35 per adult and $25 per kid. This includes 1 pound of clay, guidance, tools and the first firing. Kiln turn around time is 3 weeks, then you can come back and paint your pieces. We do charge the studio painting fee of $9 per adult and $6 per kid, to cover paint, resources and the extra kiln time. Then we fire them again and that takes about 2 weeks.
