🍀 Fun fact about St. Patrick’s Day: The holiday honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland—but he wasn’t actually Irish! He was born in Roman Britain and later brought Christianity to Ireland. Another surprise: the original color associated with the celebration was blue, not green. Today the day is famous for shamrocks, parades, and even rivers turning green—like the one in Chicago. Whether you're wearing green or learning the history, it’s a fun way to celebrate Irish culture around the world. 🍀

Here are the 5 D’s of bystander intervention, framed in honour of Bullying Awareness Week:
1. Distract – Subtly interrupt the situation to diffuse tension. This can be as simple as starting a conversation with the targeted person, asking for directions, or creating a moment that disrupts the bully’s focus.
2. Delegate – Seek help from someone in a position of authority, such as a teacher, counselor, supervisor, or another trusted adult. Bystanders don’t have to act alone to make a difference.
3. Document – If it’s safe and appropriate, record or note what’s happening. Documentation can support the targeted person later, but always check with them before sharing it.
4. Delay – If you can’t intervene in the moment, offer support afterwards. A simple “Are you okay?” or “I saw what happened—how can I help?” can be incredibly validating and healing.
5. Direct – When safe, address the behavior directly by telling the bully to stop or checking in with the targeted person in the moment. Even a short, calm interruption can shift the power dynamic.
