A heads-up for small business owners in federally regulated industries.

On October 20, 2026, new equal pay rules take effect under the Canada Labour Code. If you operate in banking, airlines, railways, telecoms, interprovincial trucking, or a First Nations band council, this one's for you.

The short version: from that date, you can't pay part-time, temporary, or contract employees less than full-time staff doing substantially the same work, unless the difference is based on seniority, merit, or productivity.

If that's your world, don't wait until October! Now's the right time to review your pay structures.

Happy Canada Day from the CG Hylton team! 🇨🇦

159 years is worth celebrating. Whether you're spending it at a parade, out on the water, or waiting for fireworks tonight, hope it's a good one.

Days like this are a good reminder of why we do what we do — helping Canadian organizations take care of the people who show up every day.

Today, we hope you get to just enjoy it.

It's an old pattern, honestly. The bill shows up locally, even when the decision didn't.

If your team could use a hand getting ready for that conversation before it starts ringing the phones, we're around.
