"Hey everyone, it's Johnny from Hawkeye Designs 👋. I'm putting this out there because I often get asked: 'How long have you been doing this?' or 'Is your work safe?' So, let me tell you a bit about myself and what drives me...

I'm a proud Calgarian at heart, born and raised in the city, but I've been calling the beautiful town of Carstairs home for the past 9 years. I love being close enough to Calgary to work on big projects, but still being part of this amazing community here in the country.

From my first day on a job site at 13, working with my best friend's dad, to now running my own company, Hawkeye Designs - I've loved every minute of it 😄. There's something about creating something from scratch, seeing a design come to life, and knowing it'll be around for years to come... it's addicting.

Growing up around blueprints (thanks, Dad's architectural company 🇨🇦), I started hammering nails young. At 16, I landed my first real framing job with Neal Jagger, who passed me my first saw and showed me the ropes. Next, I joined Duri Homes, where the owner and lead hand took me under their wing and taught me everything they knew. Those early years were the foundation of everything I do today.

Working with my buddy Terral was a game-changer - he showed me you can always learn more, and that's what drives me to keep pushing the limits of what's possible with wood and design 🤓. Whether it's figuring out a tricky beam layout or crafting a custom piece, I love the problem-solving and creativity that comes with this job.

For me, it's not just about building stuff - it's about creating spaces that make people happy. I put my heart into every project, big or small. From custom homes , winerys , to treehouses, double-decker sheds to rock climbing walls - I've built a few weird and wonderful things 😄.
