The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) , the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and the World Food Program USA highlighted the need to integrate forcibly displaced people into local food systems. This can contribute to greater food security and food justice for the local communities involved, particularly women, girls and youth.
The Newcomer Community Cookbook strongly believes that newcomers play an integral role in contributing to the diversity of our local food systems, which is why we have featured local immigrant-owned restaurants in the Calgary area. Check out the past videos and support local businesses!
