Ethical hacking is when an organization empowers its security professionals (internally or externally) to put their cyber program to its paces, and validate efficacy!

The goal is to test your cyber security program from the perspective of a threat actor trying to gain your information. This proactive step will detect potentially vulnerable areas of your program, empowering you to shut the door before the bad guys discover it.

"You've given permission to your team (or a trusted third party in many cases) to perform pe*******on testing in your environment and pose as an attacker trying to breach the system. You then feed the information you've uncovered back into your process and shore up on any vulnerabilities," Brian Forward, Ignite Security Solutions Engineer explains.
