Do I actually have any ‘greatest hits’? My new ‘Sharpest Cuts’ collection is now streaming! Check it out! (link in bio)
It’s 25 songs, and, let’s be real, none of them are ‘hits’ by industry standards. But 27 years of putting out music? I’ve earned the right.

🎤1 new song
🎤21 Ricca Razor Sharp classics
🎤1 song from each of the bands I’ve been in: defEKt, Phattoe, and

Back in 99, when I moved to Calgary, the ‘music industry’ operated on this general model:
🟢Get signed to a major label and become a star, or…
🔴Toil away in obscurity and probably nobody would ever hear of you.

I was sure it would be the former. But I also kind of knew it would be the latter.

Then came social media, streaming platforms, YouTube, etc. It became much easier to do things yourself. My dreams of world tours never materialized, but, honestly, way more has happened than I really thought possible.

🍁2 Canadian tours with Phattoe.
💽18 albums & counting.
📻Charting nationally on college radio.
🔥Opening for legends like KRS One, Redman, Method Man, and GZA.

But the real reward has been the people. People that I collaborated with & grew to love personally. People I met at shows, who turned into good friends. People I met in other aspects of life, who supported my music.

There are WAY too many to name, but the bands I mentioned are special. As is . And . If you’re tagged in this photo, you’re one of the insanely cool and talented people who have contributed vocals, production, or musical talent to these songs.

So don’t tell me I haven’t made it. Because I do what I love and I love what I do. I have the best friends. Because in 8 days I’ll be 49, and just 9 days ago I rocked a set at Ship Hop and showed em that old folk still know how to throw down!

This long weekend, I hope you take some time to check out the album. The songs are fun, serious, catchy, challenging, and sometimes even dumb.

And guess what: some of my best songs haven’t even been written yet.

HOW TO GET GOOD AT RAP IN 5 STEPS
STEP 5: RAP IT LOUD
You there! Don’t mumble! Even mumble rappers practice their verses out loud. Go to your room and do a concert for your little sister’s stuffed animals. If you’re 18+, go to karaoke. If you’re ready for a show, find an open mic night, or kiss a promotor’s ass somewhere! Rap for the humans (or stuffies) in the back row. And don’t forget to have fun!
