🚨 ALBERTA PNP EDUCATION POINTS UPDATE 🚨

There has been a lot of confusion about Alberta PNP education points, especially for applicants who studied at institutions such as University Canada West, Coquitlam College, and other schools that are not always discussed as “recognized institutions.”

Part of the confusion came from Alberta PNP’s own website, which references recognized institutions, leading many applicants to wonder whether their education would qualify for points.

To get a clear answer, we emailed Alberta PNP on May 22, 2026 and requested clarification.

Alberta PNP has now confirmed that candidates can claim education points for Canadian studies completed at an IRCC Designated Learning Institution (DLI), regardless of whether the institution is listed as recognized on the CICIC website.

This clarification should provide reassurance to many students who were concerned about losing Alberta PNP education points because of the institution they attended.

⚠️ As always, applicants must still meet all other Alberta PNP requirements and eligibility criteria.
