Wind Instrument Proshop
SML Saxophone repadded and available for Sale. Lots of work went into this, but I've made a commitment to have every instrument we sell be in good condition.
I was really inspired by the JLwoodwinds shop last year when I was in new York. They had a wall full of saxophones, but what really impressed me was that they were putting the care and time into each jnstrument they sold to make sure they were in great condition before reaching anyone's hands. I saw a variety of old instruments at a variety of pricepoints all repadded. That impressed me, and inspired me to try do the same.
JL Woodwinds is a fantastic shop and if you are in New York I definitely recomend paying a visit and buying some Saxophone gear. They really care about what they do.
Cleaning hinge rods is important.
Oil degrades, and evaporates slowly overtime. As it does the steel rods can rust, or abrade your keys, this can make them noisy, bind, and wear out. Replacing the oil helps the instrument last longer.
Here are the steps I take when cleaning a saxophone steel rod.
1.remove the steel rod and apply penetrative oil.
2.wipe down the rod with a shop towel.
3.using a spinning motor to clean off the rod with a mild abrasive(polishing paper or emery cloth.
4.clean the rod with a shop towel.
5. Apply new clean oil
6. Reinstall the rod.
This is part of a repad we are doing on an SML saxophone that will be available for sale.
