In waters
deep,

In terror of
darkest night,

cold is the
sheet that
covers you,

when death is the
door beckoning you,

when
nothingness
surrounds you,

unfamiliar and distant the world around you,

when no way
forward,
upward,
inward,
is showing up,

visibility
completely
turned off,
shut off,

I’m still there,
I’m still here.

the light shining
around you,
the strong voice
speaking to you,
the arms reaching
for you,
the hands
grasping,
holding,
leading you out,
rescuing you,

That’s where I am
that’s where I’ll be
forever and always
will be.

that’s where I am,
right where you are.
I never leave you
or forsake you
even until the
end of your days,
we walk together into eternity.

My mother heart and thoughts return periodically to the scene of Caelan’s drowning.
Whenever I consider the situation, Holy Spirit leads me to His calm, saving reassurance and reality that even under the waters deep, God tells us, “even there, I am with you”…

Give me
peace
when pain
stacking,
attacking,
unbearably,
breathlessly,
tears my
heart in two.

Teach me
when,
how,
where,
why,
to stay
under, run
for cover,
to your
shelter
when stormy
weather
unsteadies me,
blindsides.
Please make
me wise.

Heal, deal
with what’s
deep within
the anguish,
wounds of
the flesh,
when
another’s
carelessness,
recklessness,
selfish pride,
inflicts
injury
inside.

Turn this
bitter cup
into a
clear cup
cleansed,
crystal-like
by my
fresh tears,
falling.

I’m calling out.
I’m letting
the emotions
out,
I’m crying it out,
waiting it out.

Give me Your peace.
