Words of encouragement from the great Maya Angelou for all my writer/artist/job-seeker/human friends who are in the trenches. Keep going. ❤️

My 2025 resolution is to journal more … if the cat allows it.

I love the fresh start of a new year, even if it’s all a bit arbitrary. My friend calls January “the hopeful month,” and I think that’s such a beautiful way to look at it. It’s a chance for a fresh start, to recognize unhelpful habits we’ve fallen into, and chart a more hopeful path forward.

I’ve seen posts that criticize the concept of new year resolutions and insist we should just love ourselves the way we are. But I don’t think there’s anything inherently self-loathing about wanting to improve.

As says, “You’re a masterpiece and a work in progress, all at the same damn time.”

We don’t make resolutions because we hate ourselves; we make them because we love ourselves and want to bring more health, joy, kindness and positive change into the world.
