Just over two years ago, when my friends asked me to join them on their running journey, I laughed and told them they were crazy for wanting to run a marathon.

Somewhere along the way, though, something changed.

I wanted a challenge. I wanted the athleticism I felt I lacked and the endurance I never had. So I started running, with no idea where it would take me.

It ended up taking me farther than I ever expected.

Last year, I set a goal to run a half marathon and I did. But once I crossed that finish line, I knew I wasn’t done. I wanted more. So I set my sights on a full marathon.

The marathon itself is hard, but what I learned is that the real challenge happens long before race day. It’s the early mornings, the long runs, the workouts you don’t feel like doing, and the mental battles that come with staying committed when nobody is watching.

This weekend, all of that work came together. It reminded me of what we’re capable of when we commit to something and keep showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable.

And that 36 km wall? It’s no joke. It hit me like a brick. But I didn’t stop, because I wanted that finish line too badly.

This marathon was more than a race. It was proof that we’re capable of far more than we think when we’re willing to put in the work.

First marathon complete. 🏅

This was my first ever race — and definitely not my last.

What started as a side quest turned into a full-on test of discipline, grit, and belief.
I didn’t grow up running. I had no background, no real plan — just a goal and the mindset to show up.

I signed up just to finish.
But somewhere along the way, that changed.
I started chasing more. Pushing harder.
Seeing what I was really capable of.

I showed up, put in the work, and trusted that effort would carry me through — and it did.
Running reminded me that growth comes when you stay consistent, even when it’s uncomfortable.
And that the finish line isn’t the end — it’s the spark.

First race down. Momentum’s up.
Let’s see where this goes.
