One of the ways to save a bit of time when putting in data into you excel sheet is using the drag down function of excel.

This can be used to: copy, fill in a series, fill in formatting, and fill in with out formatting.

This can be completed by simply moving you courser over the right small squire dot in the right bottom of the cell. Right or left clicking then dragging down to the number of cells provided.

Click on the formatting square that pop up and you can choose one of the functions you choose.

I was thinking about what would be a great tip to start the year off!

There are 2 formulas the I us together all the time. They are used when you want to separate numbers or words.

Find(find_text,within_text,[start_num])
mid(text,start_num,num_char)

In the example below we want to get the staff number from the middle of the cell.

Dates are important! In excel there are a few ways to use a few formulas to help you get the most out of your dates.

TODAY - Gives you today's date
MONTH - Gives you the current month
DAY - Gives you the current day
YEAR - Gives you the current year

These are great to use to filter data.
