Our Maple Story

So let me get this straight…
You work hard in Canada. You save up.You finally buy a decent car for your family.
You pay insane insurance every month…Gas isn’t cheap…Maintenance isn’t cheap…
And now apparently, you also have to worry about it getting stolen overnight?
Because this literally just happened near our community this week.
I keep seeing posts — even in local groups here in Calgary — about cars just disappearing from driveways.
No broken glass. No noise. Just… gone.
At what point did this become normal?
And the worst part?It feels like nothing happens after.
People report it.File insurance.Maybe get a payout (after stress and headaches)…And that’s it?
Meanwhile, it keeps happening to more families.
So what are we supposed to do now?
Install cameras?Buy steering wheel locks?Hide our cars like we’re in some kind of high-risk country?
This is Canada…
Or at least, it used to feel different.
Am I the only one who thinks this is getting out of control? 😢

Measles. In Calgary. At the airport.
Not overseas.
Not decades ago.
Right here at Calgary International Airport.
Nothing like landing in Calgary and leaving with… a public health notice.
👉 Alberta Health issued a measles exposure warning tied to multiple travel hubs
👉 Main exposure: Calgary Airport baggage claim (Carousel #4)
👉 Date: March 10 from 4:45 PM – 8:50 PM
It didn’t stop there:
👉 Exposure also linked to Cold Shot bus routes from Calgary → Red Deer → Edmonton → Grande Prairie
👉 Timeline spans March 10 evening into early March 11
Who should care:
👉 Anyone born after 1970
👉 With less than 2 vaccine doses or no prior infection
👉 You’re being told to check records + monitor symptoms
Bigger picture:
👉 Alberta already has ~200 measles cases in 2026
👉 After a 2,000+ case spike in 2025
👉 Calgary itself only has 2 cases so far… but clearly we’re doing airport layovers with measles now
So yeah — maybe the most dangerous thing at baggage claim isn’t your luggage getting lost anymore.
Saturday Random Thought:
Why is it that kids wake up at 6AM on weekends… but suddenly become professional sleepers on school days? 🤔
Parenting in Canada:
One minute you’re building a snowman,
the next minute you’re building patience ❄️😂

You don’t wake up to this kind of news in Canada… 👇
Early this morning, shots were fired outside the U.S. Consulate in Toronto.
Police say suspects pulled up in a vehicle, fired multiple shots at the building, and quickly fled the scene. Thankfully, no one was injured, but authorities are now investigating the incident as a possible national security case.
For a country known for being peaceful, this definitely caught people’s attention today.
👉 Did you hear about this? What do you think happened?
Canadian authorities investigating shooting at US consulate in Toronto Police report there were no injuries after someone fired a gun at the US consulate in the early morning hours.
I checked the calendar and it still says March 🙃
