What if the key to understanding complex brain disorders lies in connecting the dots across genetics, immunity, infections, and environmental factors?

This question was at the heart of a recent conversation with Dr. Georgia Balsevich, Senior Sector Innovation Manager at Genome Alberta .

We had the opportunity to learn more about Genome Alberta's work advancing genomics and precision health research, while exploring the growing recognition that genetics, environmental exposures, infections, immune function, and brain health are deeply interconnected.

As Inflamed Brain Alliance continues to develop the Canadian PANS Registry, we're exploring how patient-reported data, lived experience, and clinical research can help advance understanding of complex neuroimmune conditions.

Conversations like these reinforce the importance of collaboration across sectors. Progress happens when researchers, clinicians, patients, and organizations come together to share knowledge and explore new perspectives.

We’re encouraged by the areas of alignment between Genome Alberta and Inflamed Brain Alliance and look forward to exploring opportunities to advance research together.

Once again, we are taking part in the amazing Inflamed Brain Alliance campaign, asking local landmarks and buildings to light up in green for PANS PANDAS awareness day - 9th October.

Although there is a while to go until we want to see those shining lights, local councils have told us that now is the right time to start sending requests!

You could contact your council directly, or use our template letters, to ask them to consider lighting a landmark (or their own building!) up in green, as part of a global effort to spread awareness of PANS and PANDAS.
