As Vancouver hosts one of the world’s largest global gatherings, SFU is supporting the Province’s effort to connect with international investors, companies and partners looking to build and scale in British Columbia.

SFU co-hosted the Technology Sector Showcase, with a focus on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and contributed to a panel discussion on Metro Vancouver’s role in building globally competitive companies. We also hosted tours of 4DLABS and the Cedar Supercomputing Centre, core facilities at SFU Burnaby campus, in partnership with Invest Vancouver.

We are grateful for this valuable opportunity to highlight how research universities contribute to economic development, innovation and talent pipelines, and to strengthen partnerships that help address complex global challenges.

As the Large Hadron Collider shuts down this week, SFU scientists with the ATLAS project are already hard at work building even more powerful detectors for the world’s most powerful particle accelerator when it comes back online in 2030.

Terry Fox Field is undergoing a turf replacement through mid-August to bring the field up to modern safety and playability standards. The field is closed during construction, but most of the running track will remain available throughout the project. Some inside lanes will be closed. Watch for construction vehicles crossing Gaglardi Way and follow posted signs and traffic personnel.
