Great news for our Computer Information Technology (CIT) Diploma students!
The Industry Sponsored Student Projects (bcit.ca/issp) team that collaborated with the CityStudio Vancouver was recognized at the HUBBUB project showcase as a People’s Choice winner, earning awards for Most Scalable Project and Most Responsive Project among 16 projects.
The City of Vancouver operates a large fleet to deliver public services, and the students’ project, 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, explored how machine learning and predictive analytics can help the City transition from reactive to proactive vehicle maintenance.
The prototype showed strong potential to reduce operational costs, optimize maintenance schedules, and advance the City’s commitments to modernization, digital transformation, and data-informed decision making.
Congratulations Gautam Dhoopar, Kevin Dusange, Zoya Wajzer, Yaye Seydi Balde, Abhinav Dixit, Philip Flores, Mellaad Aktary, and Kate Esfandiari!
A great example of what’s possible when students, city staff, and innovation partners come together to tackle real-world challenges.

The last term of CST offers a chance to pull skills together in final capstones and industry projects. This fall's Technical Programming Option class created -- and released! -- a game that aims to teach about climate change management.
“This project really gave us a chance to put everything that we learned in the past two years into one project,” says student and Project Manager Corey Buchan. “We tackled challenges in graphics rendering, performance, sound effects, networking, predictive AI, server maintenance, and API design.”
