The Daisy

With cameras in our cell phones, most of us don't feel the need for the old "point and shoot" camera. Its "good enough" technology isn't good enough anymore.

It's hard though to deny the beauty and engineering wizardry of those cameras.

If you want to experience that beauty, or you collect lovely "oldish" cameras, we have two for sale, plus a couple of other camera items.
In one grouping, an Asahi Pentax K1000 camera with its case and wide Pentax shoulder strap, an Asahi Pentax lens and a Pentax AF 160 electronic flash in its own case. This set includes the booklet for the camera and the flash unit. $60.

The second is a Nikon EM 35mm SLR camera. It is being sold with a Nikkor A1/A1-S prime lens. $50.

The following items are being separately: a vintage Vivitar Zoom Thyristor electronic flash. $8.

And a Samsung Digimax 4010 digital camera in its own case. Early 2000's. $10.

At the Daisy, a time machine from an earlier era. A wind up phonograph, complete with spare needles and many old 78's, is for sale.

It comes in a beautiful wooden cabinet and is in full working condition, which means you turn a handle to get it up to speed.

This one of a kind antique is $125.

So much to choose from at the Daisy, and so little time this week. We are closed Wednesday for Canada Day. Still, that leaves Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to shop for treasures at the Daisy.

First up, a must-have for surviving summer's heat. It's a Seville Classic oscillating tower fan with four speed settings and a timer. $20.

Several table lamps are for sale this week, like the handsome giant on the shelf as you come in. Its base is shaped like a glass ginger jar with brass finished metal hardware. $20. A pair of lamps on a nearby table are smaller with ornate pedestals finished in antique bronze. $8 each.

Two queen size comforters with matching shams are perfect to store away for cooler weather. One is in pale gold damask, the other has a smocked panel in sage running around a central area of curved motifs stitched in brown. This comforter set is $16. The pale gold combo is $24.

Just above the comforters is a large painting of white flowers on a blue and tan background. $15. Breezy and light, it's perfect for a summery feel in the home.

Lots of new purses to love like the beige coloured Coach bag featuring the distinctive circular silver logo snap closure. In excellent condition with the Coach serial number inside. $50. Next to it, a black leather Gucci purse with metallic silver-tone top handles. $30. A nearby brown suede slouchy shoulder bag is $20.
There's also a collection of clutches and smaller purses on a display unit by the cashier.

In the jewelry case next to the cashier, an opulent one-of-a-kind necklace in natural stone. There are faceted heart shaped stones in pale, pinky grey with citrine coloured crystals on each side of the hearts. The whole necklace is strung with milky green beads that might be jade (we're not sure). It's a show stopper. $30.

The world has certainly moved on since Princess Diana was in the headlines. Her story with its tragic ending still resonates for many fans of the Royals. We have a small collection of Princess Di memorabilia, plates and mugs with her image, and magazines featuring this fairy tale princess. Various prices.

As usual our children's section is filled with adorable clothing for little ones, and not so little ones, like the hooded jacket in a bold flower design. Size 10-12, $5.

Puzzles are one of our biggest and steadiest sellers. We have lots, so many in fact, that puzzles are on sale this week. All puzzles are half price, from simple 300 piece puzzles to brain crushers with a 1000 pieces. There are Ravensburger and Cobble Hill puzzles along with many others to test your patience. Half price on puzzles this week.

If you buy adult diapers you know how expensive they are to purchase. Now you can find these necessities at the Daisy at a fraction of the cost. A generous donor has made it possible for us to offer large packages of men's and women's adult diapers for everyday and overnight use. The average price is $10 a pack. If you don't see the size you want in the store, ask one of our volunteers to check out back.

And a big reminder that Christmas is coming to the Daisy. Soon. The last two weeks of July will be Happy Ho Ho times at the store. We'll have everything you'll need and want for the big season that's ONLY 6 months away.
