Contact Brant will be closed on Tuesday, July 1st for Canada Day.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day with family and friends.

As we celebrate, we also acknowledge the importance of reflection and continued learning about the realities Indigenous communities have faced and continue to face.

We had an absolute blast at Brantford Pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ this past weekend! 🌈

This year was the biggest yet, with over 70 vendors and community partners coming together to celebrate. When chatting with Jackie Fenley, Chair of Brantford Pride, she shared that it all began from a simple but powerful need for connection - it’s incredible to see how much it has grown.

The energy was amazing. It truly felt like a welcoming, safe space where everyone could be their authentic self.
Contact Brant is committed to a safe and inclusive community for all. We will not tolerate harmful comments. To support a positive environment, comments have been turned off on this post.

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day that falls on the summer solstice, marking the longest day of the year. It is a time to recognize and honour the knowledge, traditions, cultures, and significant contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

We had the opportunity to speak with Colin Martin, Traditional Resource Knowledge Keeper Gihekdagye Friendship Centre (formerly known as BRISC), who shared valuable teachings and insights about Indigenous history, culture, and ways of knowing. He reminded us that while today is an important day of recognition, every day is an opportunity to learn about, appreciate, and celebrate Indigenous cultures and communities.

We are grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and deepen our understanding as we continue our commitment to respect, reconciliation, and meaningful community connections.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Black people learned they were free - over two years after emancipation.

While rooted in American history, it also resonates in Canada, reminding us of our shared past and the ongoing work toward equity.

At Contact Brant, we’re committed to fostering inclusion, challenging bias, and building a more inclusive community for all.

Contact Brant is grateful to have been a part of the Child & Youth Strategic Collaborative (CYSC) - a committee whose dedication and creativity strengthened organizational connections, sparked community conversations, and helped launch the Children & Youth Bill of Rights on June 16th, 2026.

As the CYSC comes to a close, community partners celebrated all that we’ve achieved together, and the foundation built for future collaboration and impact.

As partners, our commitment to supporting children, youth, and families continues, guided by the relationships and learning we’ve built along the way.
