Today is Tom Longboat Day in Ontario! 🏃‍♂️

Born at Six Nations on June 4, 1887, Tom Longboat (Cogwagee) of the Onondaga Nation became one of the world's greatest distance runners. He won the Boston Marathon in record-breaking time in 1907 and went on to achieve international fame.

Longboat also served Canada during the First World War as a dispatch carrier in France. His legacy continues through the Tom Longboat Awards, established in 1951 to recognize outstanding Indigenous athletes.
