🌍 Can You Study in Canada on a Work Permit? 🤔

This is a question that has sparked a lot of debate among immigration lawyers, consultants, and applicants alike. Let’s clear up the confusion once and for all!

✅ Here’s the rule: If you’re a foreign national with a work permit in Canada, you can study without a study permit under certain conditions:

Your course or program lasts six months or less.
You complete it within your authorized stay period in Canada.
💡 Does R188(1)(c) provide an exception? Yes! This provision suggests that certain professional certifications lasting less than six months may not require a study permit, as long as they’re completed within your authorized stay.

🔍 Important note: Work experience gained while studying full-time in Canada won’t be counted toward your Canadian work experience for CRS points, even if you hold a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
