πŸ“· by : POLLINATOR WEEK 2026!!

🐝Kicking it off with our Native Plant Sale on June 20th! Our flagship event, pay-what-you-can native plants, all volunteer grown!

🐝On June 22, we're holding our second annual Eco-Fair, where we gather local environmental groups under one roof at the downtown branch.

Kathy Pathnode from Xerces will be talking moths. Moths are the not-so-flashy, pollinator night shift. Learn about their huge diversity, their fascinating lives, and their habitat needs.

Join ecologist Junaid Shahzad Khan for a talk about our native pollinator species, their lifecycles, identification feature, and the best ways we can support them within urban environments.

🐝On June 26th, we're very excited to celebrate a NEW Pollinator Garden that we are putting in at Dunsmore Park in Barrie's East End - join us for a wholesome time (and bring the kiddos - it's a PD Day!).

🐝And of course, we're running our Invasive Species Bounty again! See the details of entry here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1VzsyyRK0CjhKg7PSSbjbkx8D2EQcStz2d__KdMHe_yY/edit?chromeless=1

It's scary out there. We hope you're able to take a pause on the hustle, get sweet soil on your hands, get some plants in the ground, and celebrate the wild, mindblowing, beautiful life that is still here.

Climate anxiety (and anger and grief) are getting worse as the impacts of the climate emergency get worse - and getting native plants in the ground and watching an ecosystem stitch back together is one of the more effective individual actions you can take.

But collective radical change is the only way to mitigate and adapt to this "long emergency", and these must be grounded in climate justice. This month is also Indigenous History Month; decolonization should go hand in hand with climate action because Indigenous Peoples continue to put their lives on the line for the Land that we all depend upon. Anyone interested in helping the environment must learn to stand in solidarity with Indigenous folks, too.

And Happy Pride month friends! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
