Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the RAP program provides essential, short-term support to Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) as they begin their new lives in Canada. We support newcomers from arrival through early settlement, helping them build a strong foundation in our community.

Through RAP services, individuals and families receive essential settlement support during their first stages of arrival in Canada, including temporary accommodation, orientation, referrals to community resources, and guidance in navigating everyday life in a new community. The RAP House helps create a welcoming and supportive environment where they can begin their settlement journey with stability and care.

At CDCD, we are grateful to continue providing these supports and helping our community access the resources and connections they need to thrive in Durham Region.

The Social Planning Council of Ottawa is helping raise awareness about the importance of the 2026 Census and how it helps build stronger, more informed communities across Canada.

This year’s census includes questions related to health, housing instability, and homelessness experiences — helping communities better understand real needs and improve supports and services for individuals and families.

Every response contributes to better planning, stronger community programs, and more equitable access to resources for families, seniors, newcomers, and vulnerable populations.

The deadline to complete the 2026 Census is today! Make your voice count and complete your census. Click here for more information: https://www.census.gc.ca/en/index

to our Ramadan Food Distribution, which was a great success!

With the support of our generous partners and donors, we collected a total of 2,050 items and distributed 198 food hampers to families across our community.

We are grateful to Muslim Welfare Centre ( & ), as well as and for their continued support in making this initiative possible.

Thank you to our clients and CDCD staff for their trust and dedication. Together, we continue to make a meaningful impact.
