Giving should not be out of compulsion. Churches need to stop cajoling or using these tactics to get people to give more. No matter how innocent your intentions are, it remains wrong.

As Christians we should have a genuine heart that yearns to give to the house of our Father. When we see the needs that need to be met in the church and community, we should learn to give sacrificially, even more than our tithing cus let's be honest, even a tithe isn't enough.

Emulate how the new testament saints gave.

However, giving should be personal, between you and God. Do not give to show off your wealth and abundance. Don't attach your name and identity to your giving. Don't come out to show you are making a pledge or giving to a project. Decide in your heart to do so and give privately without letting anyone know it's from you.

The Lord who sees your heart and know what you give in secret will honour and bless you. But when you come out to give and get the applause of men, that's the only reward you will receive. That's why many wonder why their giving doesn't bear much fruit, because you took the praise.
