There are places in Belize where nature and civilization meet but yet nature remains unbothered.

Drove from San Ignacio to Placencia the Belizean way — stops, weather, and no rush. From blooming trees on the Hummingbird Highway to night fishing with my boys and a calm sunrise by the sea… this wasn’t a tour, it was a reminder of what Belize really feels like.

What the Maya farmers and hunters learned long before modern systems still holds true today.
Some Maya families continue to live much as they did hundreds of years ago — in homes with thatched roofs, surrounded by forest, guided by knowledge passed down through generations.
The only real changes are a small solar panel and stronger lumber.
The way of life remains.

Not sure if tour pickup is included from your hotel?

San Ignacio and Santa Elena are treated as one pickup area, with free pickup for most town accommodations. We also offer extended pickups from jungle lodges and highway locations when needed.

We confirm everything clearly before booking.

Rainy season reminder: flying in or out of Belize often involves walking across an uncovered tarmac, so getting a little wet is possible.

ATM Cave & Cave Sites Update – Today

Additional rainfall fell overnight and the cave sites remain closed today. The rainfall was more widespread, including areas affecting the Xunantunich ferry crossing, and water levels remain elevated.

Based on current conditions, water levels will likely need at least a couple of dry days to return to safer ranges. Yesterday around 4:30 PM, I also checked the Roaring River (ATM Cave) conditions and shared a video with a senior ATM guide, who confirmed the water was still high at that time.

Alternative options:
Cave Tubing and Crystal Cave may be possible, but availability is limited due to postponed ATM tours, and some sites may be more crowded because of cruise ship arrivals. If choosing alternatives, starting as early as possible is strongly advised.

I know this is disappointing — especially during Christmas — for both travelers and guides. Unfortunately, nature doesn’t always cooperate, and safety has to come first. I’ll continue monitoring conditions and will share updates as soon as there is confirmed information.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding.

The ADO bus service is running between Mexico and Belize, but it is not showing as one single “Cancún → Belize City” route in the system.

To see available buses, you need to search the trip in two separate legs:

• Search 1: Cancún → Chetumal
This will show available departure times and fares.

• Search 2: Chetumal → Belize City
This leg is active, and ADO may display it as “coming soon” depending on date and demand.

If you only search Cancún → Belize City, the system may incorrectly show no availability — even though buses are operating.

What this means for travelers:
The service is functioning, but ADO’s booking system requires you to check each leg separately. Once you reach Chetumal, the connection into Belize City continues as part of the route.

My advice:
Use Chetumal as your planning anchor when checking schedules. This reflects how the route is currently structured in ADO’s system and avoids false “not available” results.
