Today, we celebrate the beauty, life, and importance of our oceans and the incredible marine ecosystems found within Belize’s protected areas. At SEA, we remain committed to protecting Laughing Bird Caye National Park and Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve for our communities, fisheries, tourism, and future generations.

Our oceans sustain us, and it is our shared responsibility to sustain them.

This week, we are proud to highlight Fin Obsession Tours, a locally owned and family-operated tour company by Jasmine and Darrel Westby from Placencia Village.

Founded from their home in 2023, Fin Obsession Tours was built through hard work, dedication, and a passion for sharing Belize’s marine environment with visitors. After years of service, the business has grown and now has an office space on the main sidewalk in Placencia. With their continued growth, they have also added another boat, allowing them to accommodate larger groups while still offering personalized experiences.

Their main captain, Darrel Westby, brings over 20 years of experience on the water. Fin Obsession Tours focuses mainly on private tours for couples, families, and friends, offering customized experiences at reasonable prices. Their tours range from catch-and-cook trips and deep-sea fishing outside the reef to island hopping, snorkeling, and lobster diving tours.

Whether guests want a relaxing day on the water, an exciting fishing adventure, or a customized tour based on their interests, Fin Obsession Tours works to organize the perfect day for every group. The BSOP supports marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, coastal livelihoods, and the long-term resilience of Belize’s blue economy through an inclusive and science-based marine spatial planning process.

Developed through a collaboration among government agencies, conservation partners, stakeholders, and coastal communities, the plan reflects a shared vision for a healthy, productive, and sustainably managed ocean.
